It can affect anyone, regardless of their race, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or economic status. The idea that only certain people are vulnerable to domestic violence is a myth. In reality, it occurs in our community and families, impacting people from all walks of life.
Abusers exert control and terrorize individuals, including our daughters, bosses, sisters, friends, and even our sons. It’s essential to recognize that survivors of domestic violence are incredibly strong. They face immense challenges daily, yet they persevere, raise their children with love, and work toward making the world safer for the next generation.
Let’s continue to:
Raise awareness about controlling partners and encourage healthy relationships.
Speak up about safety at home wherever and whenever possible.
Support local shelters by donating new items and gift cards throughout the year.
Advocate for change by signing up for action alerts and urging elected officials to prioritize ending domestic violence
